Grasso Tech Interact Club

grasso_troop-package.jpgTroop Care Package CollectionGrasso students collected donations for holiday care packages for our troops overseas. Interact, the student Rotary Club, sponsored a jeans day- collecting donations in exchange for the privilege of wearing jeans. Our students donated twelve boxes full of items for the troops—everything from DVDs to candy to dog treats for the K-9 patrols.  The donations will be sent to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq by the organization Friends at EB.  If you would like to contribute, visit our display at Grossman’s Seafood on Route 184 in Groton.

Keep up the good work, Grasso!

Pictured above are three Interact Club members, Josh Barnett, Nicole Teixeira and Shateeka Phillips, helping move the donations.

Great Food Drive Challenge
food_drive.jpgOur Grasso community completed the annual Spring Food Drive this month.  We donated 1,653 pounds of food valued at $500!  The food drive is held as a competition between Grasso, Windham and Ellis schools and also as an interclass competition. This year Grasso placed second to Windham.

Our class totals were:

  • Seniors 942
  • Sophomores 509
  • Freshmen 348
  • Juniors 146

The winning class earns a mural dedicated in their honor. Good job, Seniors!  Our sophomores did an excellent job motivating the Seniors. Good work!

Thank you to our community partners:  The Groton Rotary, The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, Stop n’ Shop and Big Y. And a big thank you to all students, staff and family who made our food drive a big success!

Grasso Rocks the Vote - Democracy Day
On March 23, Grasso participated in Democracy Day by holding a voter registration drive. Above, four seniors complete their registration forms with the assistance of representatives of the Town of Groton's Registrar of Voters  office. We are included in the Rock the Vote slideshow for Democracy Day. Congratulations to our 45 newest voters!!!
